Glyceryl monobutyrate is a butyric acid derivative, formed by the esterification of butyric acid and glycerol. It is completely soluble in water, has no odor, and passes through the stomach in the form of glyceride. Glyceryl monobutyrate is a non-ionic surfactant with lipophilic alkyl groups and hydrophilic hydroxyl groups. It can be used as a W/O emulsifier or an O/W emulsifier with good emulsification stability. It can emulsify lipids together with bile salts and promote the absorption and utilization of fats. Glyceryl monobutyrate has molecular polarity and can effectively penetrate the hydrophilic cell membranes of some major pathogenic bacteria, invade into bacterial cells, and then kill harmful bacteria. In addition, monobutyrin is a key regulator of neovascularization during normal tissue and cell development.
